What can impact a conversion?

We understand it can be frustrating when a click doesn’t result in a tracked conversion.

A conversion is recorded when a new customer:

1. Clicks your tracking link.

2. Completes their sign-up on the same device within 7 days.

3. Loads their credit report after signing up.

As long as they originally click your tracking link and complete the process on the same device within 7 days, the conversion should be tracked and appear on your dashboard.

Below, we've outlined the most common reasons why a conversion may not show, and what you can do to give your referrals the best chance of tracking successfully.

The most common reason conversions don’t show

The customer didn't click your tracking link before signing up
For a referral to be attributed to you, the customer must click your tracking link before creating their account. If they sign up directly through our website without first clicking your tracking link, we won't be able to attribute the conversion.

The customer signed up more than 7 days after clicking your link
Tracking links remain valid for 7 days from the time they are clicked. If the customer completes their signup after this period, they'll need to click your tracking link again before signing up.

The customer used a different device
Tracking is device-based. If a customer clicks your tracking link on one device but completes their signup on another, we won't be able to attribute the referral. For example, if they click your link on their mobile phone but later complete their signup on a laptop, the conversion won't track.

Other common reasons

  • Signing up through a different partner link
If a customer signs up using another partners tracking link, the conversion will be attributed to them.
  • Multiple sign ups on the same device

Multiple customers can sign up on the same device and still be tracked correctly. However, we recommend sending your tracking link directly to each individual customer so they can click it themselves before signing up.

If more than one person needs to use the same device:

    1. The first customer should complete their signup and fully sign out.
    2. The next customer should click your original tracking link again.
    3. They should then complete their own signup and load their report.
  • Using the wrong link

Always share the original tracking link generated in your partner dashboard.

A valid tracking link will look similar to: https://www.checkmyfile.partners/XXXXXXX/XXXXX/

Do not copy and share links that already contain a transaction ID, such as:

    https://www.checkmyfile.com/credit-report.htm?partner=test&transaction=79ae277cb1e640ce912e2e9ce769da29&utm_source=everflow&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=test

When someone clicks your original tracking link, a unique reference is automatically created for that referral. This helps us recognise each customer as a separate signup.

If you copy and share a link that already contains this reference, every person who uses it will appear to have come through the same referral. This can prevent conversions from being tracked correctly.

To help ensure every signup is tracked accurately, always share the original tracking link from your partner dashboard rather than a link copied from your browser after visiting the site.
